What a MEP Engineer Does

MEP engineers design the mechanical (HVAC), electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial building. For specialized tenants (medical, food service, dialysis), MEP design is critical to meet operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lay out electrical service, panels, and distribution
  • Design plumbing, drainage, and water systems
  • Coordinate with architect and structural engineer
  • Meet energy code and sustainability requirements
  • Produce CDs and support permit applications
